Holding an important position in the spiritual life of the diverse peoples of the East African Coast, the burning of incenses and natural tree resins has been practiced for millennia. The primitive design and craftsmanship of our Somalia Uud and incense burner is what makes them beautiful and very unique. Hand crafted from white clay, new they smell fresh like the ocean. We use ours with each of our loose incense such as Somalia frankincense and African rose uud. We also use it with loose sage.

Carefully light the edge of a charcoal square (sold separately). We find it easier to light by holding it with tongs over a gas stove flame for about 30 seconds then transfer it to the inside of our Uud burner. Place a piece or two of incense or natural tree resin on the charcoal square.

The charcoal will continue burning for some time allowing you to add another piece or two of incense or small piece of rose uud. When finished, let the charcoal extinguish completely and the incense burner to cool before you clean it and put it away for the next use.
